into Scanlon Hall on the campus of Missouri Western for the start of training camp Womens Marqise Lee Jersey , he was greeted by Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka — the same trio that guided the young quarterback to a record-setting debut season as the starter. It was a welcoming, comforting reunion. The Chiefs went through a wholesale overhaul of their porous defense over the offseason, hiring a new coordinator, new assistants and bringing in eight new starters — give or take. But continuity is what defines the other side of the ball, and that could help Mahomes match or even surpass the 5,000-plus yards passing and 50 touchdown tosses he had while leading the Chiefs to the brink of a Super Bowl."Obviously I feel different having a season under my belt where I got to play all 16 games in the season and then playoff games," he said. "Just knowing what to do, another year under my belt and knowing what I need to do each and every day in order to have success on the field."One of the biggest downfalls to success is change. Teams that win games, advance in the playoffs and win championships tend to lose their best coaches to better jobs at rival organizations. That was the case when then-Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson was plucked by Philadelphia, then guided the Eagles to a Super Bowl title. And it was the case a couple of years later, when Chicago took his replacement, Matt Nagy, and the Bears proceeded to march into the playoffs last season.Bieniemy got some looks for head coaching jobs after last season, too, but ultimately returned to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator. And with Kafka back to tutor Mahomes Telvin Smith Jersey , the brain trust that guided the Chiefs to a third consecutive AFC West title is back intact. That has allowed the Chiefs to build on last season, rather than spending time getting up to speed, and that means plugging even more information into their league MVP's head."He's been challenged with the different plays that have been added," Reid said, "and then some of the fundamental things that he's working on. When I tell you he loves that stuff, he loves being coached. He wants to be coached hard. E.B. does a great job with him, Mike does a great job with him, of really challenging him. He thrives on that kind of stuff."It isn't just the coaching staff that returns together, either.Mahomes is still handing off to Damien Williams, who filled in admirably after the midseason loss of Kareem Hunt last season. He is still tossing passes to Tyreek Hill and Demarcus Robinson, enjoying a big-play safety valve in Travis Kelce and the protection of fullback Anthony Sherman.Up front, four of the Chiefs' five starting offensive linemen return, as do a pair of backups in Cameron Erving — who has plenty of starting experience — and Kahlil McKenzie. The Chiefs could have eight new starters on defense. They have eight returning on offense."When I got here it was such a young line," left tackle Eric Fisher said, "but now we have a whole bunch of veteran dudes, and we had some injuries last year and guys stepped in. There's no drop."The newcomers to the offense figure to make it even better http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-t.j.-yeldon-jersey , too.Austin Reiter is stepping in for oft-injured center Mitch Morse, who departed in free agency. The Chiefs used their initial draft pick on wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who replaced underwhelming Chris Conley. And backup tight end Deon Yelder replaced drop-prone Demetrius Harris. In other words, there are plenty of reasons to expect the Chiefs' offense to be just as dynamic as it was last season. Maybe even more.NOTES: DEs Frank Clark (wrist) and Alex Okafor (hip), DL Emmanuel Ogbah and WR Gehrig Dieter (back) did not practice Wednesday. ... RB Damien Williams (hamstring) returned to the field for the first time since the first day of practice. He ran with the starters the second half of practice. ... DEs Breeland Speaks and Tanoh Kpassagnon got time with the starters due to injuries at their position. The Jacksonville Jaguars trudged into the locker room one by one, and before coach Doug Marrone started to address the team, a few players chimed in.They were defensive guys. They were being positive, too. After a 9-6 loss to AFC South rival Tennessee in which Jacksonville’s offense was downright offensive, the Jaguars insisted there was no finger-pointing, back-biting or name-calling.“We came back in the locker room and guys expressed emotion,” said linebacker Telvin Smith, adding that a team with Super Bowl expectations was frustrated. “It’s not like guys got quiet. Nobody shied away from it. Things were said.”Several players said it was a constructive exchange designed to show support for quarterback Blake Bortles and an offense that has been less than impressive in two of three games this season.More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJets’ Darnold throws 3 more picks in 29-15 loss at JaguarsRams get CB Jalen Ramsey from Jaguars for 3 draft picksBridgewater now 4-0 as starter after Saints top Jaguars 13-6Jaguars once elite defense struggles as Gardner Minshew, DJ Chark build chemistryLeonard Fournette runs for career-high as Jaguars mount comeback to beat Broncos“If you look at it, offensively and defensively and special teams, those guys really don’t have the type of guys we have in this locker room,” Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson said. “It’s not like we felt like we were the king of the hill Womens Ronnie Harrison Jersey , but you’ve got to win the games you’ve got to win. … We know we’re the better team, but this Sunday they were the better team and they won.”Thanks mostly to Marcus Mariota, a punishing ground attack and a stifling defense.Mariota directed three scoring drives in relief of Blaine Gabbert, including one in the fourth quarter with “heavy personnel,” and the Titans (2-1) won their third straight in the series.Tennessee improved to 2-0 against the AFC South and will host defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia on Sunday.“This is what we are, man,” Titans cornerback Logan Ryan said. “We have a good defense. We can run the ball. We do what Jacksonville does, but we do it better than them.”Jacksonville (2-1), which fell short in its attempt to start 3-0 for the first time since 2004, will wrap up a three-game homestand next week against the New York Jets.Tennessee finished with 233 yards, but grinded out 150 on the ground, played mistake-free football and let the defense do most of the heavy lifting.“We’re not afraid of anyone,” Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan said. “We’re going to play as if we belong anywhere. People will count us out, but that’s not the case.”The Jaguars have dropped five of six in the series and failed to score any offensive touchdown against the Titans for the second straight game. They crossed midfield just twice Sunday.“We killed ourselves,” Bortles said. “Stupid penalties, drops Will Richardson Jersey , missed throws. We’ve got to not hurt ourselves, especially the way our defense is and the way we play. We’ve got to score one touchdown to win the game. To go out there and score six points in four quarters, that’s bad as an offense.”Here are some other things we learned about the Titans and Jaguars:MARIOTA IMPROVINGMariota got a game ball for his gutsy performance. After sitting out last week’s victory against Houston because of an elbow injury sustained in the season opener, Mariota was forced onto the field in the first quarter to replace Gabbert (concussion).“He was fantastic,” first-year coach Mike Vrabel said. “He cares about this team immensely. He wants what’s best for this team. You saw him come in there, get us some first downs and give us a spark.”Mariota wore a partial glove on his injured right hand and did just enough to upset the Jaguars. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 100 yards and ran for 51 more, including a 15-yard gain on a third-and-1 play late that allowed the Titans to milk the clock.MISSING STARTERSThe Jaguars finished with 232 yards and 12 first downs while playing without running back Leonard Fournette, left tackle Cam Robinson and right guard A.J. Cann. Fournette missed his second straight game with a strained right hamstring. Robinson was lost for the season last week, and Cann sat out with a triceps injury.“It’s tough anytime you don’t have your guys out there,” Bortles said. “It is difficult when you are playing with guys that aren’t necessarily in the rotation all the time.”TURNING POINTMarrone’s decision to try a fake punt early in the game proved costly.Corey Grant was stopped on the fourth-and-4 play, giving Tennessee the ball near midfield and leading to Ryan Succop‘s first field goal.“I always regret decisions that don’t work,” Marrone said. “I just wanted to be aggressive early and had the look.”
